這個颱風週末閒來無事, 聽了Paul Potts的首張專輯- One Chance. 很好奇這位在Carphone Warehouse上班的男子, 竟傳奇地在六月得到Britain’s Got Talent冠軍後, 七月立刻發行了debut album...
大致聽了一遍後, 最愛的還是Time to Say Goodbye. 從在美國時就超愛這首歌, 可能是當時的心情感受吧, 那時還跑去買了Sarah Brightman的演唱會VHS跟舞曲版的CD Single, 就是愛這首歌. 隔了多年聽到Paul的重新詮釋, 覺得下次Sarah再開演唱會時, 不用再獨唱這首歌或找來原始對唱者Andrea Bocelli, 就找他英國的同鄉Paul, 一樣動人心弦.
整張專輯的感覺超有El Divo的影子, 因為好幾首歌El Divo都在先前的專輯與公開場合演唱過, 可能是屬於同一個唱片集團的關係吧. 所有曲目中我最不愛You Raise Me Up這首歌, 偏偏許多好稱美聲歌手如Josh Groban等都愛翻唱這首歌. Music of the Night與Caruso這兩首還滿耐聽的. 至於他那首在總決賽中選唱的Nessun Dorma, 倒是中規中矩. 不過戴起我的耳道式耳機細聽他的聲音, 發現有些地方唱的並不是那麼穩與自然, 有點奇怪, 現在的唱片不都會作remix與remaster? 可能是這樣更能表現出他樸質誠懇的特質吧.
最後一提的是, 台灣方面將這張英文名為One Chance的專輯取名為"決戰星光", 我眼睛花了嗎? 真悲哀...

This guy Paul Potts is quite extraordinary! Nice voice, but I still like Andrea Bocelli more. :)
